Webdesign output in 2011
As 2011 comes to a close, I take a quick look back at my webdesign output over the course of the year.
In spring and summer, I set up www.sunnehang.de for the Landwehr family’s chalet in the Swiss alps. As the goal is to increase bookings for the chalet, it was quite fun to try to present the house in the most inviting way while trying to keep the website as straightforward as possible to prevent visitors from jumping page out of frustration.
In summer, I blogged my travels on www.berlin-saigon-express.de. There was only minimal designing involved, actually not more than half an hour of theme customization. However, as the blog started to fill up with nice photos, I was glad to have chosen a photoblogging theme.
In early December, I set up the provisional homepage www.zoon-politikon.de for »Zoon Politikon — Workshop for Politics & Economy«. Right now, it is all about the content but as our corporate design emerges in the next months, I will definitely invest some time in designing the page. So, watch out, there is more to come in 2012!
Right before Christmas, I threw together a homepage for Qigong teacher Martha Maria von Hugo at www.qigongraum.de. Again, contents and structure had to be kept as simple as possible because the website’s target group consists of many digital immigrants. With the great background montage that I stole from a QigongRaum flyer, I was able to put together a design that conveys a message of relaxation and calm.
Oh, and of course I shouldn’t forget several attempts to redesign www.basantathapa.de. I liked my original design’s style, but the maintenance had just become too cumbersome. I tried different themes which all looked too much like the latest trend in blog design and too little like Basanta. Finally, I was successful in satisfying myself with this classy theme and the elegant Lato font and then even found the energy to carry out some badly needed content an structure changes.
