I am a self-taught media designer and still do the odd design job on the side now and then.
I am aware of the shortcomings that come for want of a formal training, but I am confident that I have acquired solid technical knowledge and an eye for the aesthetics of typography and layout.
Web designI tought myself HTML when I was around 12, moving on to PHP and MySQL a few years later. Today, I prefer to work with CMS — just to save time and since I’m not a real coder anymore. CMS I’ve worked with: For grafical elements, I prefer to work with Adobe Fireworks or the Gimp. |
Print designI supported myself with print design jobs through most of highschool and university. I have stayed true to the Adobe Creative Suite (on a PC, of course). Occasional voyages to open source DTP solutions did neither increase my happiness nor my productivity. My portfolio includes books, flyers, posters, magazines, newsletters, business cards, post cards — pretty much anything that can be printed and contains text. |
