Seriously? BMW lets you unsubscribe via hotline
I just received a newsletter from the carmaker BMW, which I might have subscribed somewhere (although I really don’t care for cars).
My usual reaction to unwanted newsletters like this is to hit the unsubscribe link at the bottom and be done with it. (Works 90 % of the time for me)
So, when I tried to find that unsubscribe link at the bottom of this said BMW newsletter, I found something really astonishing:
After telling me that I have (at some point in the past) given my consent to be molested by BMW newsletters, they point out the possiblity to unsubscribe by phone. At a decent 8 ¢ per minute, at least until March 1st, when they at least guarantee a maximum of 42 ¢ per minute.
This is probably the most ridiculous and customer unfriendly way I have ever seen from a newsletter, even those super-useless “21 ways to open Word” newsletters I somehow attract every few weeks.
And 0,42 € just to tell them to delete your address from their database: I’d expect this kind of malicious offer from some Nigerian credit scheme, but not a global player.
Shame on you, BMW!
